Eurosatory 2018: SandCat with MSIS

Plasan Sasa and BIRD Aerosystems Team to display the special intervention vehicle

Plasan Sasa and BIRD Aerosystems have teamed up to offer a SandCat armoured vehicle equipped with BIRD‘s advanced mission management system (MSIS), calling it a special intervention vehicle, presented for the first time this week here at Eurosatory.

SandCat, Plasan’s family of 4X4 armoured vehicles, offers the flexibility and robustness needed for defence and security missions. While providing high-end protection, SandCat maintains its manoeuvrability and agility, even when equipped with surveillance and communications systems. The SandCat family has been designed to support a wide range of challenges and missions including: law enforcement, Special Forces, homeland security, border patrol and armed conflicts. SandCats are also used to transport troops, as a command and control centres, and to transport VIPs though conflict zones. More than 600 SandCat’s are used on every type of mission, on all types of terrain around the globe.

BIRD‘s advanced MSIS manages the complete mission profile and ensures that all operating teams share a unified, real-time situational awareness. MSIS is an integral part of BIRD’s Airborne Surveillance, Intelligence and Observation (ASIO) solution. The system provides a complete Task Force solution, which enables to collect and process large amounts of information gathered from the airborne platforms and that is automatically classified and efficiently displayed. The information is then shared in real–time with the ground segments of the Task-Force such as the C&C centre and ground intervention vehicles and enables all operating teams to share a unified situational awareness picture.

Equipped with BIRD’s MSIS, SandCat can receive real-time information and data from the airborne sensors, allowing commanders to more effectively oversee and manage the ground missions.

Plasan is proud to cooperate with the leading C4i companies for borders and strategic infrastructure security integrated solutions,” Dani Ziv, Plasan Sasa CEO, says.

Ronen Factor, BIRD Aerosystems Co-Chief Executive Officer and Founder concludes: “We are honoured to cooperate with Plasan and are excited to install BIRD Aerosystems’ mission management system on the SandCat armoured vehicle. The installation of the MSIS on the vehicle will extend its operational capabilities, enable it to participate in Task Force Ground Missions requiring close coordination with airborne surveillance platforms, and allow it to exchange real-time mission-critical information. We are pleased to present this concept for the first time at Eurosatory.”
