Will Equip Three New Kormoran II-class MCMV
Saab has received an order from Remontowa Shipbuilding for deliveries of additional Double Eagle semi-autonomous remotely-operated vehicles (SAROV) to be used for safe disposal of sea mines by the Polish Navy.
Remontowa is building the Polish Navy’s second batch of three new Kormoran II-class mine countermeasures vessels (MCMV), due to be delivered to the navy in 2026-2027. The company will integrate the Saab ROVs with the MCMV as part of its prime contract with the navy. “These MCM vessels represent an important contract for Remontowa Shipbuilding as well as an important statement and reinforcement of Poland’s national security in a fast-changing world. Saab has already successfully delivered and commissioned its Double Eagle systems to us for the first three vessels in the Kormoran II programme,” commented Remontowa’s Commercial Director, Dariusz Jaguszewski.
Operated by multiple services around the world, the Double Eagle family comprises a selection of underwater vehicles for MCM operations. With different vehicle configurations and payload integration options, there is a solution for every scenario, from search and identification to mine neutralisation. Some of Saab’s other underwater vehicles, such as Sabertooth and the Multi-Shot Mine Neutralisation System (MuMNS), which is a state-of-the-art mine identification and disposal system for the British and French navies, are on display at Euronaval in Paris this week.
