Open Architecture Provides Flexibility and Networking Solutions
FN Herstal will be electronically showcasing its Sea defender remote weapons station (RWS) for naval applications during EURONAVAL Online this week.
Based on the defender-Medium for ground applications, Sea defender provides the facility for any naval platform – including unmanned surface vessels (USV) – to counter current and emerging asymmetric threats. Its standardised open architecture allows integration with combat management systems and external sensors as well as third-party equipment. The architecture also allows several RWS to be controlled by a single C2 system, opening the door to a collaborative network of deFNders.
Other FN machine guns, such as the .50 calibre M3R featuring a rate of fire of up to 1,100rpm, are also available for integration and require no changes to the overall architecture.
