At Eurosatory 2018, Thales unveiled its new Nexium Defence Cloud

The Nexium Defence Cloud facilitates communication and information sharing across missions and allies, enhancing interoperability and collaboration. It is a private cloud infrastructure solution that allows hyper connectivity in the battlefield in order for the deployed troops to access all the information in real time and on a secured network (facilitated by Thales LTE solutions). Because it is available in a range of configurations, the infrastructure networks are available for HQ all the way down to the all-in-one box that transforms a Forward Operating Base into new cloud nodes. “These all-in-one boxes have been designed with maximum resilience in mind,” commented André Mechaly, Head of Marketing for Secure Communications and Information Systems.

The all-in-one box has also been designed with the aim of facilitating its deployment and use for the end-users; “it is a plug and play system,” continues Mechaly.

Nexium Defence Cloud is currently undergoing trials and Thales expects to be able to deliver it by 2019. Although Mechaly was unable to disclose customers for confidentiality reasons, he noted that these are generally located in Europe and the Middle East. MONCh also enquired as to whether this solution will also soon be available for naval and air assets: “Certainly, this is what we call ‘community of interest’,” Mechaly concludes, “we are working on developing this solution for those platforms in order to facilitate joint operations.”
