Power electronics developer SYKO Gesellschaft für Leistungselektronik mbH announced it developed a 3.75kW/24V Duplex On-Board Regenerator in a compact REG 3350 Series design
With an on-board voltage range at 18-140V (static) and a load-dump strength in accordance to MIL-STD 1275, VG96916 (including ISO 16750 DEF STAN) of 174Vs/350ms (maximum), the REG 3750 module controls the cranking up to 9V at half power. The stable housing of the REG 3750 module is EMC/Electromagnetic Compatibility-tight at both low and high frequency, which is thanks to its multi-chamber system and surface design. Two functionally independent power strings enable a security concept due to the division onto the String A (3kW/24V) and String B (0.75kw/24V) and from the input connector up to the output connector, with the functional groups running separately, both electrically and mechanically. Other output voltages (up to 60V) are possible:

Exit A remains active till load-dump in accordance to MIL-STD 1275 (100V/350ms) and switches off with 105V according to VG96916 and ISO 16750 and DEF STAN, respectively. Exit B remains active via electrical system simulation and by integrating a storage capacitor Cb (bitline capacitance); with String B owning a passive saving time. At an input voltage of <18V (cranking), the power stages switch on initially-constant current and the possible output is reduced at 50% proportionally to the on-board power supply. The function „cranking“ will be communicated to the user.
With SYKO’s patent procedure, it is possible to absorb overloads over the maximum intermediate circuit voltage to avoid the feared current reflection (secondary disturber). The standard module displays a chronological voltage rise at 10ms; but, SYKO was able to minimise this at <3 milliseconds. Very fast voltage or current changes on the electrical system generate currents via line inductances (1μH/m), coupling capacitance, and generator characteristics that can negatively charge the supporting capacitors. This can be prevented by active polarity reversal protection, protecting against destruction by static reverse polarity during commissioning, service work, and in mobile assemblies. In the case of reverse polarity, communication by the processor is retained. The REG 3750 module has been designed to be service-friendly. Its individual functional components can easily be exchanged. This means that the module can be used in an ambient temperature range of -40/+ 50 degrees Celsius. Its three processors digitally control the output voltages (with PID/Proportional Integral Derivative controllers), currents, and monitor the amplitude/time-active load dump, as well as all controls and communications. Outputs are statically/dynamically short-circuit proof and adaptively regulated. Other performance characteristics are possible through modifications.
