Mobile ballistic shielding for forces in the field

Ortech Defence Systems Ltd., specialising in the design, production and turn-key implementations of defence and protection solutions for private, public, governmental and military buildings, sites and structures, will present the Protected Container at Eurosatory 2018.

A mobile protection structure, the Protected Container is equipped with all the necessary functions to provide complete shielding of personnel in hostile environments, including from ballistic shock-waves of up to 120mm, mortar shells and rockets. The structure is the size of a standard international container, and is made of lightweight materials, enabling it to be mobilised easily from place to place. It requires no infrastructure, can be set up in any terrain and a number of Protected Containers can be connected together to create a shielded environment suitable for a large force in the field. All work-enabling functions, such as electricity, sewerage, communications and more, can be built in to the structure itself.

For containers and structures that are already in place, Ortech offers the same high-level protection through a kit of modular panels, delivered and easily installed in field. The Modular Container Protection provides defence to walls, openings and rooftops against blast, ballistic and shaped charge hits -Stanag 2280, category C4 – and more.

The two products provide essential protection for HQs, field clinics, communication centres, briefing rooms, sensitive equipment storage and barrack deployments in hostile environments.

As well as the Protected Container, Ortech will also be presenting two other unique shielding solutions at Eurosatory. The first is the company’s Y-Fort Bunkers and Shielded Walls, a bunker-building solution including a unique lightweight protective roof, designed to protect soldiers assembled in briefing areas. The bunker can withstand ballistics and light gunfire, and can be assembled manually in a matter of a few hours, by as few three soldiers and a small tractor if needed.

The second is the Protector, a unique complete protection solution for hazardous materials containers at sensitive facilities that answers a need created by global terror threats. As opposed to using concrete castings, which can take up a lot of space – sometimes several meters – the Protector is made from an advanced armored steel frame and panels to create a solid envelope and complete shielding against blast, shock waves or shrapnel hits. It is extremely lightweight and requires little in the way of assembly and maintenance.
