New Five Year Supply Contract
Nexter Munitions and EURENCO, the European leader in energetic materials, announced a strengthening of their existing strong partnership on the first day of Eurosatory 2018 in Paris
The companies already collaborate in strategic products such as the modular charges for artillery systems (155mm/52 cal. CAESAR), or combustible cartridges and propellants for 120mm High Explosive (HE) and Armor Piercing Fin Stabilised Discarding Sabot (APFSDS) tank ammunition for the LECLERC MBT. Deciding to strengthen the arrangement, they have now signed a contract for the supply over the next five years by EURENCO of more than 100,000 REACH-compliant combustible cartridges and more than 300t of high performance propellant for Nexter Munitions’ 120mm HE and APFSDS tank ammunition for export markets.
This success was made possible thanks to both companies’ commitment to complete product development and qualification and to the upgrade and optimising of the production lines of both combustible cartridges and propellants for large calibre systems, to guarantee reliable, consisten high quality production volumes.
The new arrangement “helps prepare French industry for the future challenges of the MGCS and CIFS programs,” commented Nexter’s Vice President, Ammunition Business Unit, Jean-Patrick Baillet, referring to the Franco-German programmes aimed at replacing the LEOPARD and LECERC fleets (Main Ground Combat System) and procuring a 40-60km range artillery system (Common Indirect Fire System).
