Solutions to Continue Digital Transformation Process
Bittium is to continue to supply the Estonian Defence Force (EDF) with tactical communications capabilities, the company announced on 22 July.
The products and systems to be delivered, complementing a network solution already delivered, include the company’s software-defined Tactical Wireless IP Network (TAC WIN), used to form a wireless broadband network; TOUGH COMNODE devices; the TOUGH VOiP family; the Tactical Network Management system; Tactical Power Pack battery units, and software maintenance related to the systems.
The deliveries are based on a framework agreement between the EDF and Bittium’s Estonian partner, Telegrupp AS, covering the period 2021-2025. Bittium has received the first purchase orders, valued at approximately €1.4 million, calling for product deliveries for the year 2021 and software maintenance for the years 2021-2025. Telegrupp AS acts as integrator for the products and systems delivered to the EDF – third party products will also be delivered under the framework agreement.
The contract continues the transformation IP data transfer capability within the Estonian Land Forces. Bittium has already supplied the EDF with a tactical communications system, including the TAC WIN and TOUGH VoIP products, contributing to ongoing reform. Bittium’s tactical communications system modernises IP data transfer, improves network performance, and diversifies the wireless and wired connectivity of the system entity used by the EDF.
