Escribano Wins Guardia Civil Maintenance First

€19 Million Win Could Double in Coming Years

Escribano Mechanical & Engineering (EM&E) won a contract for the majority of the maintenance of the Guardia Civil’s Integrated External Surveillance System (SIVE) – marking the first time a domestic integrated electro-optical systems manufacturer has undertaken this critical role.

EM&E has won some €19 million worth of business – which the company says could double in the coming years – in direct competition with larger companies such as Indra, which have been responsible for SIVE maintenance for over two decades. Indra has retained responsibility in two areas for which EM&E did not bid, reportedly totalling €3.4 million. TRC also won business valued at some €0.8 million in logistics management support for the system.

Escribano’s footprint with the Guardia Civil is thus expanding. The service last year selected the company’s OTEOS-S  electro-optical sensors to upgrade SIVE. EM&E sensors are also prescribed for Guardia Civil border security and maritime service applications. In addition, the company will collaborate with radar manufacturer ART in providing the range of maintenance services required. ART radars have already been selected for SIVE modernisation.

EM&E sensors are gradually replacing obsolete technologies in the SIVR+E surveillance system. (EM&E)
