Shelter and Mast Provide Flexibility in Rough Terrain
In their first collaborative venture ERA (a member of the Omnipol Group) and SMAG Mobile Antenna Masts (a subsidiary of Salzgitter Maschinenbau) have introduced a new mobile antenna mast for the VERA-NG passive reconnaissance and surveillance system.
VERA-NG, a self-learning ELINT system developed by ERA, will now be transported in a military shelter with an integrated Ftm 25/6 mast system, both developed by SMAG, allowing for maximum mobility in rough terrain. A prototype is under construction and due for completion by the end of the first quarter and production deliveries from the end of the year. Advantages of the mast include high payloads of up to 1.2t and stability in adverse wind conditions without the need for stabilising wires.
“We recognise ERA as a high-tech company with unique experience in passive radar systems. We believe that our close cooperation will help to find new customers for our joined systems,” commented Wolfgang Schnelle, SMAG Managing Director.
