Empowering Faster Decision-making
Envitia has been selected by BAE Systems to provide artificial intelligence (AI) expertise for naval C2 and EW decision-making, the company announced on 18 November.
A strategic team that includes BAE Systems and Thales, among others, is pursuing opportunities in the EW domain by exploring open architecture principles to incorporate niche technologies offering enhanced naval decision-making. Envitia will provide its machine learning capability to the team; incorporating AI will empower faster decisions, and serve as a useful tool in augmenting decision-making by the commander, rather than automating decisions.
“Envitia’s data platform, combined with our data science capability, offers value that is often seen as attractive to larger corporates, the Ministry of Defence, and [the] wider public sector,” commented Envitia CEO, Nabil Lodey.
“The data science expertise [Envitia brings] enhances our product offering and shows how available data can be harnessed to improve decision-making in high pressure situations. Combining Envitia’s niche capabilities with our systems knowledge will ensure we provide leading edge decision advantage to naval operators,” added Amelia Gould, Combat Systems Director, BAE Systems Naval Ships.
