Wireless, Portable, Flexible
Less than a month ago, HP released the HP DesignJet T830 Multifunction printer (MFP), complete with armoured case. Already the MFP is in service with US forces (Army, Marines and Air Force) and those of Australia and New Zealand.
That immediate takeup is almost certainly down to the flexible characteristics of the T830. Printing up to A1 format (2400×1200 resolution) in 25 seconds, with wireless connectivity and able to print maps, for example, onto specialised media (such as HP Durable Banner with Dupont Tyvek) or even clothing materials, the printer makes itself attractive to a wide variety of users, not the least of which are special forces. Data collected by UAVs in tactical missions could, for example, be printed on demand in the field for immediate action or for escape and evasion maps.
Protected by a Peli case and meeting DEF (AUST) 1000(C) standards, the MFP has been subjected to extreme tests including six-hour water spray and drop testing. The 36in WiFi MFP communicates directly with tablets, smartphones and other input devices, is fully portable and weighs 85kg in operation – 121kg in shipping mode, for which the overall dimensions are 1.69×0.62×0.676 metres.
