Milipol 2017: EmergencyNET Launched by Prisma

GSM and LTE secure networks offered by EmergencyNET

Prisma has launched its manpack EmergencyNET secure cell phone network at the Milipol exhibition being held in Paris between 21st and 23rd November.

The product can provide either an LTE (Long Term Evolution) or GSM (Global System for Mobile Communications) secure cell phone network for up to 32 and 14 participants respectively. Representatives from the firm told MONS that the LTE network can host data services, providing up to ten megabits-per-second of traffic.

Two manpack systems are offered to this end; one providing the LTE network, and the other providing the GSM network using a radio over IP (Internet Protocol) approach. For the LTE-based EmergencyNET the firm provides a SIM (Subscriber Identification Module) card which needs to be installed in the user’s phone to enable it to use the LTE network. The company continued that it has secured sales in Europe and the wider world of the EmergencyNET, although declined to mention customers for reasons of confidentiality. According to the firm’s literature, a typical range of two kilometres (1.2 miles) can be covered by the system, which has up to eight hours of battery life.
