Two Systems Marks First Contract with Jakarta
Elettronica is to supply its naval radar electronic counter-measures (RECM) systems for two 90m OPVs currently under construction for the Indonesian Navy at PT Daya Radar Utama shipyard – a first contract with Indonesia for the Italian company. Two additional OPVs are anticipated for the Navy, to be built in Indonesian shipyards.
The RECM provides naval vessels with effective electronic defence, using a powerful active phased array transmitter. The jamming techniques are automatically and adaptively selected for system effectiveness against both terminal missile attacks and long-range designation radar systems. A modular design approach allows for adaptive installation configuration for individual ship classes.
The RECM selected by the Indonesian Navy is composed of two Jamming Antenna Sub Systems (JASS), co-operates with other onboard EW sensors and actuators, is ITAR-free and can integrate with all currently available naval combat management systems.
This contract is a result of the company’s strong intention to extend its presence in Southeast Asia, and in particular starts its new partnership with the Indonesian Navy, to which Elettronica could be a reliable long-term partner to increase in-country EW capabilities matching any future requirements.
