Elbit Systems UK Demonstrates USV Capabilities for UK MoD

SEAGULL USV Shows ASW Utility

Elbit Systems UK recently completed a series of anti-submarine warfare (ASW) trials with the UK MoD, the company announced on 8 June. The trials were delivered via the Defence Science and Technology Laboratory’s (Dstl) Progeny framework programme, exploring how autonomous systems might support future ASW operations.

Under the second phase of the programme – a series of live at-sea trials which took place in late October – Elbit Systems was one of several UK companies to showcase potential solutions.

The company used its SEAGULL unmanned surface vessel (USV) for the trials, with L3Harris providing the sonar. SEAGULL is a multi-mission, multi-sensor USV, which demonstrated its autonomous ASW utility throughout the trials period, using the ‘ASW Toolbox’ solution to show how the system might fulfil the role of a force multiplier for ASW operations.

The SEAGULL USV has once again demonstrated its superior capabilities, underlining Elbit Systems UK’s competitive position to providing innovative and cost-effective solutions to the UK’s armed forces,” stated Elbit Systems UK CEO, Martin Fausset.
