Components for Forward Equipment Bay for all LIGHTNING II Variants

Lockheed Martin has awarded a four-year contract to Elbit Systems-Cyclone Ltd for assemblies for the F-35 forward equipment bay, the company announced on 14 September. The contract calls for composite components and associated structures for all F-35 variants.

Over 1,400 components are likely to be delivered during the contract period. The award decision stems in part from Elbit Systems’ successful performance in supplying other structures and systems for the LIGHTNING II. These include the helmet mounted display systems, development of the panoramic cockpit display, power amplifiers and 22 different structural assemblies.

“This contract reflects the recognition and trust we have established with Lockheed Martin in our many years of collaborative work,” commented Yoram Shmuely, General Manager of Elbit Systems Aerospace Division.
