Elbit Systems Naval Air Training Contract for Asian Navy

Two-Year Acquisition Phase Followed by Three Years’ Availability-Based Maintenance

Elbit Systems has won a $27 million (€22.8 million) contract to supply naval air-to-air combat training systems to a South Asian client, the company announced on 17 August.

The two-year contract, to be followed by a three-year availability-based maintenance solution, is based on the supply of EHUD Air Combat Maneuvering Instrumentation (ACMI) systems, to be operated from the navy’s shore bases as well as from aircraft carriers.

EHUD ACMI offers advanced air-to-air combat training capabilities, including features such as real-time hit notification and removal, real-time EW and air-to-air weapons delivery, simulation and advanced debriefing. The system supports an unlimited number of live networked participants, through Elbit Systems’ data-link protocol that also allows interoperability with existing EHUD ACMI systems operated by the customer. EHUD ACMI training systems are currently operated by multiple air forces across four continents, including several NATO countries.

Yoram Shmuely, General Manager of Elbit Systems’ Aerospace Division, commented “We [will be supplying] advanced combat training capabilities to the customer’s navy, following the successful operation of these systems by its air force. Elbit Systems is the Israel Defense Forces’ training and simulation house and our continued investment in this area, together with the extensive operational experience we have accumulated, enable us to stay well ahead of the curve, also to the benefit of our international customers.”

Recent successes for the company’s training capabilities include selection to supply embedded training solutions for the USAF T-7 RED HAWK trainer, use of its newly-commissioned Brigade and Battlegroup Mission Training Center in Israel and a $38 million contract to supply comprehensive Joint Fires Synthetic Training systems to the UK MoD.
