Elbit Systems Introduces New Technologies on SEAGULL USV

360° Panoramic Video with Automatic Target Recognition

Elbit Systems has integrated new technologies onboard its SEAGULL USV, further enhancing its capability to operate autonomously in a busy maritime environment and to overcome communication challenges, the company announced on 22 March.

A 360° panoramic video system with automatic target recognition and a patented automatic navigation capability complement the existing ‘sense and avoid’ capability, enabling the vessel to operate in compliance with the International Regulations for Preventing Collisions at Sea 1972 (COLREGs). This enables the SEAGULL to operate safely in congested harbours, at sea with heavy traffic and autonomously execute missions, even with no communications with the control station.

SEAGULL is a multi-mission USV featuring a modular mission payload suite supporting ASW, mine countermeasures, EW, maritime security, underwater survey and other missions, using the same vessel, mission control system and data links. It has been in Israeli Navy service since 2017 and is currently in production for international operators.
