Helicopter EW Suites To Include Countermeasures
Elbit Systems announced on 26 April that it has been awarded a contract valued at $103 million (€95.2 million) to supply comprehensive electronic warfare (EW) suites to the air force of an unidentified Asian nation.
Under the contract, which is to be conducted over a three-year period and will include long-term integrated logistic support, Elbit Systems will fit the customer’s helicopters with complete EW suites, including countermeasure systems. These will provide the helicopters with advanced protection to achieve the customer’s operational requirements.
“Demand for combat-proven EW systems is getting stronger as the electro-magnetic spectrum becomes increasingly contested and the threat to aircraft gets more acute. I believe that Elbit Systems is well positioned to address this rising need,” commented Edgar Maimon, Executive Vice President and General Manager of ELISRA – Elbit Systems’ EW and SIGINT business.
In the last six months, Elbit Systems has won several major airborne EW contracts, including:
- A $50 million order to supply Portugal with a complete EW suite for its KC-390s;
- A German award for EW self-protection systems for the Bundeswehr’s CH-53GS/GE helicopters;
- A $471 million USAF contract for IR missile warning systems for the F-16.
