Comprehensive Capability for Unidentified User
Elbit Systems has received a contract, valued at approx. US$100 million, to convert a commercial platform to an intelligence and EW Special Mission Aircraft (SMA) for an unidentified international customer, the company announced on 18 April. The period of performances is cited as three years.
The aircraft will be equipped with advanced mission intelligence and EWcapabilities, providing a comprehensive operational picture generated by SIGINT and electro-optical VISINT sensors, as well as self-defence capabilities against a range of threats. It will also feature Immune Satellite Navigation Systems (ISNS). The EW systems will enable targeted electronic attacks to be launched, aimed at disrupting and blocking a wide variety of communications and radar threats, offering the aircraft SIGINT operators to exert full-spectrum control.
“This airborne ISR and EW solution is relevant for today’s defence needs, and designed to be ‘future ready’ and adaptable to the fast-evolving operational requirements of our customers,” explained Oren Sabag, General Manager of Elbit Systems ISTAR & EW.
