GBTS for M-346 LAVI as Lead-In for 4th/5th Generation Fighters Elbit Systems has completed delivery of the ground based training system (GBTS) centre for the IDF. It is aimed at effectively and affordably training IDF fighter pilots and aircrew to progress directly to 4th and 5th generation fighter aircraft via the M-356 LAVI trainer.

The GBTS consists of multiple simulators networked in an advanced virtual-constructive environment, delivering highly realistic, immersive conditions for training. The ability to learn and practice unusual or emergency procedures or to simulate complex air warfare scenarios either solo or as part of a multiple aircraft task team, enhances the range and utility of training available to IDF aircrew. 

Use of Elbit’s Embedded Tactical Training System provides live training utility in the simulator and onboard the aircraft, further enhancing training utility and ensuring seamless transition from ground-based to airborne training as far as possible. The simulators feature a real-image 360° display system and sophisticated computer generated forces functionality to generate an almost limitless range of training scenarios.
