Echodyne Expands Market for EchoGuard C-UAS Radar

Significant Enhancements for Performance and Ease of Use

Echodyne has significantly enhanced its range of radars, adding a new sensor for international markets, a new product for special operations applications, a ruggedised radome, and continuing improvements in software and performance, the company announced on 23 June.

Combined, these developments represent significant advances to the company’s breakthrough MESA radar technology. With customers in defence, national security, and critical infrastructure protection, Echodyne radars have become a core component for counter-UAS, border security, and base or perimeter 3D surveillance solutions.

The latest improvements include:

  • EchoGuard International: a new radar with RoHS3 construction, compliant with CE Radio Equipment Directive (RED) for EU customers;
  • EchoGuard spectrum expansion: adds radio-location capability in the 24.05-24.25GHz waveband;
  • Improved radome: ruggedised and designed to withstand 1.5 joules of impact energy without direct effect;
  • Lightweight Deployment Kit (LDK): designed to fit 10 hours of ISR capability, including radar, computer, and batteries, into a military backpack weighing under 20 lbs;
  • Firmware updates: all Echodyne radars are software-defined – this update includes enhanced stability and greater ease of use and functionality;
  • New waveform ideal for slow velocity resolution: driven by customer demand, the new waveform is designed to detect and track very slow movement, such as stealthy human walking, at over 1.5 miles.
  • RadarUI update: a significantly upgraded radar user interface with extended product line support and faster field deployment for easy radar visualisation.

We continue to find excellent customer traction for our high-performance radars,” explained company CEO, Eben Frankenberg. “Our breakthrough radars are now embedded in advanced situational awareness and weapons systems, force protection, base and asset 3D perimeter surveillance, and critical infrastructure security. We are scaling our business to not only meet demand but to become the leading radar manufacturer for a range of current and future defense and security applications. There is a lot more to come […]
