SAMSON all-in-one RCWS Integrates TROPHY and SPIKE
Rafael Advanced Defense Systems will be taking advantage of DSEI 2019 in London next week to showcase its complete all-in-one SAMSON 30mm remote controlled weapon station (RCWS) integrated with two SPIKE anti-tank guided weapons (ATGW) and its TROPHY active protection system (APS).
TROPHY is the world’s only operational, safety-certified APS, providing combat-proven protection against anti-armour rocket and missile threats, for various types of light-, medium- and heavy-weight platforms. It has a unique ability to locate and report the origin of hostile fire for immediate response and is in service in the Israel Defence Forces (IDF) on the MERKAVA main battle tank and the NAMER armoured personnel carrier, having achieved over 600,000 hours of operation. It has also recently been ordered by the US Army and Marine Corps.
With more than 5,000 SAMSON RCWS systems in service worldwide, the addition of SPIKE and TROPHY significantly contributes to the mobility, manoeuvrability, survivability and lethality of the platform in an all-in-one solution from a single supplier.
Targeting specific land and air applications, Rafael will also exhibit the SPIKE family of multi-platform, multi-purpose, electro-optical (EO) missiles, with range capabilities of up to 30km, including the 5th-generation SPIKE LR2, which has already been ordered by a number of international customers. Altogether, SPIKE systems have been sold to 33 countries, including 18 EU and NATO nations, with over 30,000 missiles already delivered and 6,000 fired in combat and in tests.
The company will also exhibit DRONE DOME at DSEI, an innovative end-to-end system designed to provide effective airspace defence against hostile drones with SKYSPOTTER – an advanced EO sensor for real-time airspace monitoring, early detection and accurate tracking of airborne targets. The system has been sold to a number of customers, including the UK Ministry of Defence.
The following products and solutions will also feature in Rafael’s exhibit in London:
• MIC4AD, an advanced, unified, integrated C4I system for ground-based air defence applications, that commands and controls the operation of both air and missile defence, including air-superiority missions
• Integrated all-in-one IRON DOME air defence system for manoeuve forces
• BNET ‒ Ultra-high broadband IP software-defined radio for ground and air applications
• TYPHOON MK-30C – Stabilised & remotely operated weapon system for surface and aerial targets
