DSEI 2017: ST Kinetics Continues its Innovation Drive

Established Deep Engineering Capabilities to Develop & Deliver a Suite of Customised Solutions

As a group, ST Engineering has established a name for ourselves in Singapore and worldwide as an integrated engineering and defence group. We will continue to grow and build our track record in that manner. In the last 50 years, we have established deep engineering capabilities to develop and deliver a suite of customised solutions that meet our customers’ requirements.

ST Kinetics, the Land Systems arm, continues on its innovation drive for its defence solutions to keep ahead and remain relevant to our customers.

We work at building on our lead in niche areas like our 40mm solutions. ST Kinetics is perhaps the only OEM that offers a complete suite of 40mm payload (ammunition) to delivery solutions (AGLs, GLs).
We also have a strong track record in a comprehensive range of solutions for Mobility, Firepower and Upgrades.

  • Mobility, e.g. BRONCO and TERREX families of vehicles, Next Generation Armoured Fighting Vehicle. The downselection of the TERREX 2 for the ACV 1.1 attests to the capabilities of our platforms. The sale of WARTHOG to the UK Armed Forces is another good example of the quality and performance of our vehicles which met the needs of the customers.
  • Firepower, e.g. Large, Medium and Small Calibre solutions (155mm artillery guns, 120mm SRAMS, 40mm grenade launchers, SAR21), 40mm, ADDER Remote Weapon System
  • Upgrade/Reset, e.g. M113, CASCAVEL armoured vehicle revitalisation services, upgrading of the URUTU 6×6 APCs for the Brazilian Army.

We seek out suitable defence partners and work with them in various ways, depending on customers’ requirements. For example, we have collaborations with major players in North America, e.g. General Dynamics Ordnance and Tactical Systems and SAIC, and are able to fulfil US requirements for IP transfer and local production. Other partnerships take the form of licensed agreements.

Another area of focus for ST Kinetics is in the area of autonomous solutions including UGVs, which troops can rely on to support forward-deployed tactical force elements. Roles can include surveillance/reconnaissance missions; logistical support; and fire support.

The group invests about 4% of revenue on R&D, as well as collaborate with government agencies, national research agencies and tertiary institutions on development efforts in areas that are of interest.
