Offer for German Airborne Forces to be Based on VECTOR
Kraus-Maffei Wegmann and Dutch special-purpose vehicle developer Defenture are to enter into a strategic cooperation agreement. Both companies have already signed a Letter of Intent, KMW revealed on 16 September.
Motivation for the move can be seen, partially, in the Bundeswehr’s plan to procure new airborne platforms to replace the existing vehicle fleet operated by airborne troops – some of which are now over 20 years old. The basis of the vehicle family the companies envisage offering is Defenture’s VECTOR platform, which has already seen successful service entry in the Netherlands. VECTOR will form the basis for a family approach to fulfilling a variety of mission sets.
