RST promote UAV detection radar to Turkish Armed Forces
Speaking during the DSA 2018 exhibition being held Kuala Lumpur 16-19 April, officials from Turkey’s RST told MONCh that the company had registered significant interest from the Turkish Armed Forces in its Unmanned Aerial Vehicle (UAV) Detection Radar.
Although being aimed at the UAV detection market, the X-band (8.5 gigahertz/GHz to 10.68GHz) radar has the capability act as a ground-surveillance system, detecting human-sized targets at a range of circa 15 kilometres/km (9.3 miles) and large vehicles at 25km (15.5 miles). In terms of air targets, helicopters can be detected at a range of 13.4 nautical miles/nm (25km) and a small UAV at 3.2nm (six kilometres).
For airborne target detection, the radar has a 20 degree elevation beam width for the detection of airborne targets. The radar can support output protocols such as ASTERIX, and can be mounted on a trailer or vehicle, or used in a stand-alone configuration.
