Co-Development of Next-Gen Systems Centred on AMASCOS
PAL Aerospace and Thales have signed a strategic agreement to co-develop next-generation mission systems for multi-mission MPAs.
Among the targeted capabilities under the deal, signed at DSA 2022 in Kuala Lumpur, are machine learning, computer vision, optionally/remotely piloted aircraft systems support, underwater warfare defence, and the integration of space-based data into a complete mission lifecycle for dissemination in a common operating picture, said PAL Aerospace. “Together, we are ready to co-develop the next generation of mission systems that will innovate how multi-mission MPAs save lives, defend territorial waters, and build maritime domain awareness,” commented CEO, Keith Stoodley. Development of these capabilities will be based co-operatively, supporting industry and jobs in Canada, France, and the United Arab Emirates, he added.
Hervé Hamy, Thales’s VP of ISR activities, said the joint development of these mission systems is aimed at offering a cost-effective product “based on our mutual field-proven experience in airborne maritime surveillance and patrol solutions.”
A Thales representative at DSA 2022 told MON that the co-operation will include co-developing the next generation of the company’s AMASCOS system, which is built around a command-and-control structure and integrates a range of sensors and communication equipment to support airborne surveillance missions.
