Australia’s Barrett Communications has showcased its new 4075 High Frequency (HF: 1.6 megahertz/MHz to 30MHz) one kilowatt transmitter at the DSA 2018 exhibition being held in Kuala Lumpur between 16 April and 19 April. Company representatives told MONCh that it had developed the 4075 in response to customer demands for a transmitter which can help to greatly enhance the range of HF transceivers to intercontinental levels via the significant enhancement of the usual HF transceiver output of around 100 watts, they continue. Barrett’s official literature states that the transmitter can accommodate up to 1000 channels. Moreover, the company claims that the 4075 is the only liquid-cooled HF power amplifier on the market. To date, Barrett has supplied circa 20 to 30 examples of the 4075, and is producing a further circa 20 systems. Officials stated that they are seeing demand for these, and other of the company’s HF products from across the civilian and military communities, witnessing notable demand in the Asia-Pacific regions and also from customers in the Middle East. Barrett is also recording demand for the 4075 from customers whom are seeking HF communications at range, particularly those who require a means to communicate with HF maritime coastal radio, such as navies and coast guard agencies.
