DiSTI to Upgrade STRYKER Maintenance Training

DiSTI to upgrade US Army STRYKER Maintenance Training System using VE STUDIO

On 9 November, the DiSTI Corporation, a leading provider of graphical user interface software and customised 3D virtual maintenance training solutions, announced a $4.4 million phase IVa contract award from the US Army for upgrades to the STRYKER Maintenance Training System (MTS) Diagnostic Troubleshooting Trainer (DTT) currently in use at Fort Lee, VA/USA. The award will update maintenance and troubleshooting procedures for the STRYKER Infantry Carrier Vehicle (ICV), Anti-Tank Guided Missile (ATGM), and other STRYKER vehicles and subsystems including the Engine, Suspension, and Remote Weapons System (RWS).

The updates will convert existing training from a legacy 2D user interface to an enhanced 3D Virtual Environment (VE) developed by DiSTI for the STRYKER Mobile Gun System (MGS) recently fielded in STRYKER MTS Phase IV. The $4.4 million contract for Phase IVa includes upgrading 158 existing procedures to the 3D VE, updating to the latest version of the Interactive Electronic Technical Manual (IETM), installing the new software in the DTT classrooms, and providing Instructor/Operator Training.

The STRYKER MTS provides training for the Army’s 91S Military Occupational Specialty (MOS). In addition to the MTS DTT classroom virtual training, the MTS also includes hardware Hands On Trainers (HOT) and Part Task Trainers (PTT). DiSTI’s team for the new award includes Rockwell Collins Simulation & Training Solutions (STS), the incumbent contractor for the original STRYKER MTS programme, and a key member of the DiSTI team during development and fielding of the MGS virtual training environment.

This contract award is another example of the proven success achievable when using our industry leading virtual maintenance training development technology,”  Joe Swinski, explained. “The power of the VE Studio production pipeline consistently delivers quality maintenance training systems that instructors and students love to use.”

DiSTI’s virtual training environment, produced with VE STUDIO, provides a realistic 3D training environment for the STRYKER MTS DTT classrooms at Ft Lee, VA and has received a very favorable response from Instructors and Students since delivery of the MGS vehicle in February 2016. This contract award follows the recent on-time delivery in 2016 of the UH-72A LAKOTA utility helicopter virtual maintenance training systems and the award of the Counter – Rocket, Artillery and Mortar (C-RAM), Land-Based PHALANX Weapon System Operator/Maintainer Trainer (OMT); both contracted by PEO STRI with DiSTI as the prime contractor.
