VE Studio Software to Power Operator/Maintenance Trainer
DiSTI announced on 15 November the award of a contract, valued at US$2.8 million, to develop a Operator/Maintenance Trainer (OMT) for the Counter-Rocket, Artillery and Mortar Land-Based Phalanx Weapon System (C-RAM LPWS). The contract was awarded by the US Army PEO-STRI.
DiSTI will leverage its VE Studio development toolkit and the Unity game engine to develop a 3D interactive virtual environment, recreating the C-RAM LPWS platform to provide realistic training for system operators and maintainers. Trainers will be delivered to Ft. Sill, OK, Ft. Campbell, KY and Ft. Lee, VA by April 2018.
This contract is the third recent example of DiSTI’s increasing role as prime contractor. Delivery for two of these, also contracted by PEO-STRI, has already taken place this year: virtual maintenance training systems for the UH-72A LAKOTA light utility helicopter and the STRYKER MOBILE GUN SYSTEM.
