Showcasing UH-72A VMT & CH-47F virtual environment
At 2017 AUSA ILW Global Force, DiSTI is showcasing its UH-72A Virtual Maintenance Trainer, a CH-47F virtual environment, and the latest capabilities in GL Studio 6.
In 2015, DiSTI won a contract award from the US Army to develop a virtual maintenance trainer (VMT) for the UH-72A LAKOTA helicopter. The $4.4 million contract includes the development of twelve interactive student workstations with a networked Instructor station, an additional “hanger” workstation to be collocated with a hardware-based trainer, and a “reach-back” training capability to deploy virtual training content on hand-held mobile devices. The contract also provides for one year of Interim Contractor Support (ICS). The trainer has been delivered to the Western Army National Guard Aviation Training Site (WAATS) in Marana, Arizona in mid-2016.
In addition to the selection by the National Guard Bureau to conduct the LUH-72 maintenance course, the Arizona Army National Guard and the WAATS are home to more than 20 LUH-72 LAKOTA’s. These aircraft are utilized daily in support of civil authorities and in assistance to the US Customs and Border Patrol along the southwest border, requiring regular maintenance at a higher standard than most army aircraft.
The CH-47F pre-built virtual cockpit is a fully interactive 3D repeater cockpit with zoom in and out capabilities for detailed instrumentation views and MFD displays with active buttons. Warnings Cautions and Advisory (WCA), Engine Instrument/Power Train page, Vertical Situation Display (VSD), Horizontal Situation Display (HSD), and the Fuel page are completely functional for each MFD. Created using GL Studio, this cockpit contains 907 accessible GL Studio Class Properties, equipped with the highest level of interactivity, ready for integration into a software program.
