German Navy Empowered to Repair and Recertify
Diehl Defence has received an order to deliver rectification and repair equipment for the RBS15 MK3 anti-ship missile for the German Navy, the company announced on 5 July.
Destined for the ammunition supply center in Laboe, the equipment will allow the Navy to conduct its own repairs and recertification of the main armament for its BRAUNSCHWEIG-class corvettes, simplifying logistics and increasing the weapon system’s operational functionality. The contract covers set-up and commissioning of the equipment at Laboe and on-site training of Bundeswehr personnel, test and inspection equipment and additional operating and auxiliary resources.
With a range of over 200km, the RBS15 Mk3, jointly developed with industry partner Saab, not only allows the engagement of sea targets at a safe distance, but also enables precision strike against land targets. The all-weather capable fire-and-forget missile features high manoeuvrability, is specifically ruggedised against electronic countermeasures and is extremely difficult to detect, due to its low radar and infrared radiation signatures, rendering an engagement almost impossible.
