19 Nexter Caesar 8×8 Systems Destined for Kyiv
The Danish government announced last week that it will donate to Ukraine all 19 of its Caesar 8×8 155mm artillery systems currently on order – some of which are yet to be delivered to the Danish Army by Nexter.
The transaction will more than double the number of Caesar systems in Ukrainian service, thus adding significantly to the nation’s indirect fire support capability. Nexter was in the final throes of delivering Caesar to Denmark and integrating it with the Systematic Thor fire control system. Danish gunners are fully proficient to impart what they have learned to their Ukrainian counterparts, ensuring a rapid translation to frontline service for the urgently required systems.
Nexter seeks to ensure a new Caesar-based indirect fire support capability can be provided to Denmark before the end of this year, and has already submitted appropriate proposals, the company stated on 25 January.
