Roadmap Clearly Defines Project Milestones
Russian Helicopters (part of Rostec State Corporation) and Indo-Russian Helicopters Limited (IRHL), a joint venture of Russian Helicopters, Rosoboronexport and Hindustan Aeronautics Limited (HAL), have signed an ‘events roadmap’ that foresees potential production of the Ka-226T helicopter in India.
The document, signed at DefExpo 2020 in Lucknow this week, defines the main stages and terms for organizing indigenous production of the Ka-226T. The roadmap specifically reflects timelines for establishing Indian production, contracting with a local supply chain, transfer of design documentation, supply of technical equipment and machine kits, training of Indian production and support personnel and a host of other key elements of the project. “The roadmap sighned today will be the basis for further development of the Ka-226T localization project in India after the signing of the contract,” stated Andrei Boginsky, Director-General of Russian Helicopters’ holding company.
IRHL was registered in India in May 2017 as part of the project launch process. The Ka-226T twin-rotor coaxial aircraft has a maximum take-off weight of 3.6t and a 1t payload capacity. The eco-friendly, cost-effective helicopter will transport six passengers and will feature advanced avionics and enhanced flight safety solutions.
