Testing Regime Prior to Potential Production Order
Dutch military and law enforcement vehicle developer Defenture has delivered a GRF prototype vehicle – the LAUF 20 – to armasuisse – the Swiss federal defence procurement agency, the company announced on 1 March.
Based on a GRF vehicle previously delivered to Dutch special forces, the LAUF 20 “is characterised by a number of specific technical customer requirements,” which, according to the company statement, were developed and integrated in just a few months. The integration, which included a number of customer-specific communications devices, was carried out entirely by Tiel-based Defenture.
Delivery of the LAUF 20 to Switzerland marks the company’s first international delivery contract and was conducted “to the great satisfaction of the customer,” even amid pandemic-ispired disruption, says Defenture. The vehicle will be subjected to a rigorous testing regime to ensure compliance with Swiss functional requirements and determine a final configuration to be applied to a production order for an as yet undisclosed number of vehicles to fulfil a Swiss Army requirement for light tactical vehicles.
