DEFEA 2021: Aeronautics to Highlight Intelligence Gathering Solutions

Flexible Capabilities and Common Systems Enhance Operational Effectiveness

Aeronautics will focus visitor attention to its exhibit at DEFEA 2021 in Athens this week on the intelligence-gathering aspects of its UAS family, to include the ORBITER 3 and ORBITER 4 STUAS, as well as the ORBITER 1K loitering munition.

Following the recent acquisition of Magal Security Systems, Aeronautics has become a one stop shop for homeland security, the company states, offering comprehensive capabilities for border protection, intelligence-gathering and port protection against different levels of tactical drone. As well as producing a unified image, through integration between systems, the company also enables customers to reduce training and maintenance costs.

ORBITER 3, an electric-powered platform with a 5kg payload capacity, provides extended operational coverage and a dramatically reduced logistical footprint. Designed to operate with, and support, the tactical echelon, empowers long-endurance ISTAR operations. The latest variant features an encrypted digital datalink, extended endurance of up to seven hours and a 150km operational radius.

The ORIBITER 4 STUAS is suitable for both land and maritime operations carrying multiple payloads simultaneously, thus extending its ISTAR capabilities. Easy to use, with a minimal logistical footprint and a small crew, the runway-free platform suits all operational needs and delivers greater capabilities than competing systems, with greater endurance, serviceability, operational flexibility and cost-effectiveness. An advanced UAS, multi-mission platform, optional BLOS operation and endurance of over 24 hours in all weather conditions, it retains the legacy capabilities of the combat-proven ORBITER UAS family.

Aeronautics’ common systems approach means that the ORBITER 1K has the same ground support equipment and integrated logistics support as the rest of the ORBITER family. It features advanced guidance, ensuring high precision and lethality, coupled with low collateral effects. Based on the mature, combat-proven ORBITER 2 mini-UAS, the 1K delivers significant performance in endurance and mission range, and is the perfect solution for ‘sensor-to-shooter’ operational concepts. Once launched, it will loiter, search for and attack them accurately, causing minimal collateral damage.

Aeronautics lead today the multi-cross action intelligence vision,” commented CEO Moshe Elazar. “[…] the synergy between Rafael and the entire Aeronautics Group enables the provision of comprehensive, complete and advanced solutions, according to our customers’ needs.”
