USAF Looks to Improving Automated Target Recognition
Decisive Analytics announced on 3 January it has been awarded a contract for Real Time Target Detection and Typing Manifold Algorithm Development for the USAF Space & Missile Center Remote Sensing Systems Directorate (SMC/RS).
The company will provide machine learning expertise for automated target recognition to support the development of capabilities in the newly-established Overhead Persistent Infrared (OPIR) Battlespace Awareness Center (OBAC). New algorithms will be integrated into the open framework architecture hosted by OBAC’s Tools, Applications & Processing (TAP) Laboratory to enhance real-time target detection and typing.
“The TAP lab creates a unique opportunity for algorithmic innovation and test on real and archived sensor data. Most importantly, the algorithms that prove successful have a rapid transition path directly to the OBAC where they are used by the 460th Space Wing for daily battlespace awareness operations,” said Richard Adleson, Vice President of Intelligent Systems at Decisive Analytics.
