Underlines German Support for Montenegro
On 12 October Germany’s parliamentary Secretary of State for Defence, Thomas Silberhorn, handed over six Mercedes-Benz G-Class light armoured patrol vehicles (LAPV) to Montenegro’s Chief of the General Staff, Gen. Drakutin Dakic at Golubovci Air Base.
Secretary Silberhorn reminded those present of the considerable contribution which Montenegro makes as part of NATO and the deployment of Montenegrin soldiers in current international missions. He also underlined the German government’s desire to continue offering its defence support to Montenegro.
Within the Bundeswehr German federal police service, the vehicle is known as the ENOK. Its OM 642 diesel engine develops an output of 184 hp (135 kW) and the vehicle has a top speed of around 100 km/h, with a range of 700 km and a permissible gross weight of up to 6.1 tonnes. It also features impressive off-roading characteristics for rough roads and is thus suitable for operations in the toughest of conditions.
