Defense & Security 2019: Aeronautics Showcase Advanced Platforms

ORBITER, DOMINATOR and PEGASUS to be Presented

At Defense & Security 2019 in Bangkok, 18-21 November, Israeli unmanned systems house Aeronautics will focus visitor attention on its range of advanced UAS. These will include the DOMINATOR XP, ORBITER 3 and 4 and the unique PEGASUS 120.

The DOMINATOR XP is a medium altitude long endurance (MALE) UAS, based on a DA-42 TWIN STAR commercial aircraft. Designed to carry multiple payloads up to 373kg and to perform tactical and long-range strategic missions, it offers high reliability coupled with significantly lower maintenance costs. Providing comprehensive ISR capabilities at beyond line-of-sight ranges, the DOMINATOR XP is ideal for defence or homeland security missions over land and sea, operating in all weather conditions and in GPS-denied environments.

Using open architecture, DOMINATOR XP can carry a wide range of payloads, including EO/IR and hyper-spectral sensors with laser pointer and designator, maritime radar, SAR/GMTI radars, communications relays, COMINT, ELINT, MAD or other sensors. The maritime configuration offers the additional capability of under-water detection combined with traditional ocean surveillance.

ORBITER 4

The highlight of the company’s offering will be the ORBITER 4, offering high portability, with no need for a take-off and landing strip. It is an advanced multi-mission platform, with the ability to carry and operate two different payloads simultaneously. The open architecture ORBITER 4 can be configured for specific client mission requirements, carrying a variety of payloads:

• Maritime patrol radar (MPR);

• Cellular interception sensor – enabling ISR missions in different theatres – overcoming ground intelligence collection constraints while expanding coverage and enabling covert operation;

• Satellite communication;

Controp‘s advanced XR electro-optic payload

• Synthetic Aperture Radar (SAR).

An evolution of the ORBITER line and the Small Tactical UAS (STUAS) programme, ORBITER 4 delivers superior mission performance with the lightest, most versatile and most advanced covert platform available today. Based on the successful aerodynamic structure and properties of the ORBITER 3 STUAS, its capabilities include maximum endurance of up to 24 hours, maximum takeoff weight of 50 kg and maximum flight altitude of 18,000 feet. ORBITER 4 is easy to use and maintain, is ideal for both land and naval operations and carries a low logistical footprint.

ORBITER 3 STUAS

A compact, lightweight system for military and homeland security missions, ORBITER 3 provides an operational range of up to 100km and up to 6 hours of endurance. Carrying a triple sensor payload with day-and-night, thermal imaging and laser pointer, the system offers significant tactical UAS capabilities in a compact platform. Assembled in 20 minutes, the fully autonomous, vehicle-mounted system enables static and on-the-move operation. Providing a tri-sensor stabilised EO/IR payload, it uses a catapult take-off and a parachute and airbag recovery; it is also electrically powered for covert operation. The ORBITER 3 STUAS is suited for both land and maritime environments, and presents a very small logistic footprint. The system is currently operated by multiple international customers.

PEGASUS 120 tactical VTOL UAS

PEGASUS 120 is Aeronautics’ first multi-mission platform. With a maximum payload of up to 75kg and an ability to carry multiple payloads, including COMINT, VISINT and logistics packages, the PEGASUS 120 is designed specifically for defence and security missions. It is unique in the category of heavy lifter VTOL UAS and is ideal for military, security and civil missions, including special forces and other special missions.
