Colombian-designed Tender for Buoy Management

Colombian shipyard COTECMAR will build a new vessel for the General Maritime Directorate (DIMAR), destined for the deployment of beacon buoys.

With the Colombian-designed vessel, DIMAR will be able to increase its operational capacity in managing the national maritime and river signalling system, covering an area from Santa Marta to the Gulf of Urabá in the Caribbean, providing anchoring and buoy removal services for the demarcation of navigation channels. It will also support maintenance of the buoys forming part of the Oceanographic Parameters and Marine Meteorology Measurement Network, as well as other support activities relevant to humanitarian assistance and protection of the marine environment.

The ship will be built in naval steel, with a 100sqm work deck area and will accommodate a crew of 15, a working crane with a capacity of up to 8t at 10m and an azimuth propulsion system (an advanced marine propulsion mechanism without rudder) that provides high manoeuvrability and safety in navigation.
