Improved Instructional and Safety Levels in Addition to Reduced Operating Costs
The Colombian Air Force (FAC) has selected the Cessna 172 SKYHAWK as its new primary trainer, replacing the approx. 10 T-41 MESCALEROs remaining in service from a batch of 30 aircraft procured in late 1968.
The new aircraft, to be progressively inducted into the Air Force in a process that will last till mid-2021, will serve at the Marco Fidel Suárez Military Aviation School in Cali. The programme aims at improving instructional levels, increasing instructor and cadet pilot safety and reducing operational costs.
The aircraft will feature the Garmin 1000 integrated instrument system comprised of two LCD display units, one serving as the main flight display and the other multi-functional.
