Transfer of Title for Training Helicopters
The US government has transferred title in 60 TH-67 CREEK training helicopters to the Fuerza Aérea Colombiana (FAC – Colombian Air Force).
The aircraft have been in use by the FAC since March 2016, deployed in support of training serials at the Armed Force Helicopter School, which is run by the service. Part of the Comando Aéreo de Combate No. 4 (CACOM-4) at Melgar Air Base, some 70km southwest of Bogotá, the school is the only military helicopter training unit in Colombia, and also serves to train police and law enforcement pilots.
The CREEKs replace older Bell OH-58A KIOWAs, which were also loaned by the US government and were previously used to train all Colombian military helicopter pilots and a significant number of aircrew from the armed forces of other Latin American nations.
