CMI Defence and Tecnobit to Collaborate on VCR 8×8

Cockerill 3030 Modular Turret Will Incorporate CENTINELA
At HOMSEC 2017 in Madrid this week CMI Defence and Tecnobit have announced the signature of a Memorandum of Understanding regarding development of a turret system compliant with the requirements of the Spanish Ministry of Defence’s VCR 8×8 vehicle programme.

On offer will be the Cockerill 3030 Edición Van Halen 30mm manned/unmanned modular turret. This special edition of the Cockerill 3000 Series will combine the advantages of modularity with Tecnobit’s advanced electro-optic technologies. Based on an unprecedented modular concept, the Cockerill 3000 Series Edición Van Halen is a single platform enabling a turret to accommodate guns of different calibres and their corresponding technological modules: automatic 25mm, 30mm, 30/40mm, 35mm and 50mm calibre guns, along with direct fire guns of 90 and 105mm calibres.

Tecnobit will supply a variant of its CENTINELA thermal sight adapted to the specific needs of the Cockerill 3000 series. The CENTINELA family includes fixed and mobile observation and surveillance systems applicable to any tactical environment, including quick deployment units that need high portability. All CENTINELAs include high performance optronic payloads of thermal and visible band cameras with optional eye-safe laser rangefinders and laser pointers mounted in robust housings with an autonomous cooling system and gyrostabilised 2-axis platforms.
