Citadel’s Next-Generation Drone Protection

Effective, Flexible and Available Now

Joining the rapidly growing community addressing the need for detection, identification and neutralisation of potentially hostile or troublesome drones, Citadel Defense Company offers the DFU 3000 Drone Defense System, advertising its capability to detect drones at 1.2km and engage at 800 metres.

Citadel is already filed a series of patent applications covering the proprietary technologies that have created the integrated DFU 3000 system. Available in static, manpack or mobile configurations, the system offers both passive monitoring and one-button operation, according to the company. “Our system monitors the radio frequency spectrum in a protected area, sensing and intercepting drone-specific control signals. Once detected, the unit engages by replicating that signal. This effectively stops any further guidance and causes the unit to invoke default failure behaviour – a controlled descent/return to home….We have no impact on any other RF/RC signals or devices, including WiFi and Bluetooth. There is no ‘jamming’ activity or in-band interference to affect local communications,” the company’s promotional material states.

Citadel believes its solution is both cost-effective and immediately relevant – capable of effectively managing most drones in use today while requiring no user training. Mobile use entails the deployment of on-device antennae, while both omnidirectional and directional antenna elements can be used for static, fixed-base applications. With 360° coverage, a capability to defeat multiple drones – up to five at a time – and a small form factor and footprint (the unit weighs just 5.9kg), the DFU 3000 Drone Defense System is aimed at a broad range of user applications, from surveillance and counter-narcotics missions to infrastructure and crowd protection.
