Reconfigurable Sim to be Delivered by 2023
Prime contractor Lockheed Martin has commissioned CAE to design, develop and manufacture a suite of C-130J training devices for the binational Franco-German training facility to be established at Evreux, the company announced on 5 January.
Under terms of the subcontract, CAE will manufacture reconfigurable C-130J full-mission simulator providing training for both airlifter and tanker SUPER HERCULES variants (C-130J-30 and HC-130J respectively). The company will also provide a fuselage trainer for training loadmasters. The training devices will be delivered in 2023, and French and German aircrews and maintainers will begin training in 2024.
The binational squadron will operate 10 SUPER HERCULES – including both C-130J-30s and KC-130Js – under a unique partnership in which the countries share the aircraft, used for aerial refuelling, air drop and cargo missions.
