20,000+ Rheinmetall DM88 and DM98 Rounds

Rheinmetall has already begun delivering against a €42 million ($41.2 million) order from the Bundeswehr for 120mm training ammunition for the Leopard 2: 10,715 DM98 TP-T rounds and 10,000 DM88, the company announced on 19 October. Delivery is scheduled for completion in October.

In use with German forces since 2017, the full-calibre DM98 round offers above-average accuracy at ranges over 2,000m and a daylight-visible tracer functionality. It was first qualified by pilot customer Denmark in 2015.

The sub-calibre DM88 TPCSDS-T practice round was qualified by the Bundeswehr in 2015-2016 and has been in service ever since. With an improved tracer and minor alterations to the material specifications, the round also features excellent accuracy.
