Also Completes EXOCET Certification Firing
The Brazilian Navy has received the 11th H225M helicopter (AH-15B) from Airbus subsidiary Helibras as part of the H-XBR programme.
The aircraft received is the eighth of the UH-15 SUPER COUGAR configuration to be incorporated into the naval aviation fleet, destined to be used in general purpose missions, day and night SAR, and in support of amphibious and special operations.
Meanwhile, an H225M in a naval attack configuration took an important step towards its certification, carrying out a live-fire test campaign with the AM39 B2M2 EXOCET against a naval hull target. Delivery of the naval attack variant is scheduled for the end of 2021, once the type receives certification of its weapons and sensors. Developed specifically for the Brazilian Navy, the variant is the most complex of this model produced, developed jointly by Helibras Engineering Center and Airbus Helicopters. It features state-of-the-art integrated systems, including the EWS IDAS-3 (countermeasures system), the ability to fire the AM39 B2M2, the APS143 tactical radar, and the naval mission system (N-TDMS), among others.
