Primary Application to ASTROS MK 6 MLRS
The Brazilian Army Evaluation Centre (CAEx) ‘Campo de Provas da Marambaia’ has received the modified cargo trucks that constitute the Sistema de Rastreo de Vuelo Transportable (STREV – Mobile Flight Tracking System).
The equipment will allow CAEx to track the flight of missiles, rockets, heavy weapons munitions and UAS, strengthening the research and development functions of the ASTROS 2020 programme. This programme is aimed at equipping the army with a strategic missile and rocket artillery system, allowing it to engage targets with much greater precision and at longer ranges. It consists primarily of the ASTROS MK 6 multiple rocket launcher vehicles, grouped into new artillery units.
Delivered by Omnisys, Thales Group’s Brazilian subsidiary, the system has undergone rigorous compliance testing by CAEx in conjunction with the Department of Science and Technology and the contractor.
