VBMT-LSR Programme Evaluation Continues
The Brazilian Army has conducted engineering testing of the ARES REMAX turret on the IVECO LMV-BR, coordinated with ARES and IVECO by the Army’s Manufacturing Directorate with the support of the Army Evaluation Centre.
The LMV-BR has been selected for the Army’s Veículo Blindado Multitareas – Leve de Rodas (VBMT-LSR – Light Multirole Wheeled Armoured Vehicle) programme, which is in turn part of the service’s Guaraní Strategic Programme to provide its infantry and cavalry units with modern mechanized equipment. A 4×4 light armoured vehicle adapted to modern combat reqirements, the VBMT-LSR will henceforth be able to lay down fire without exposing the crew, thanks to the ARES remote-controlled weapon station. The trials sought to determine both accuracy of fire and stabilization of the integrated system.
The Army and the two companies plan further tests through the rest of the year, aimed at validating and evaluating weapons and C2 integration with the vehicle and its compliance with the service’s technical, operational, logistics and industrial requirements.
