BMT/MST Partnership to Supply UK MoD Police Patrol Vessels

18 Vessels to Replace Current Fleet

The partnership between BMT and Marine Specialised Technology (MST) has been selected by the British MoD Police (MDP) to supply 18 high-speed patrol craft, after a competitive tender process, the companies announced on 16 June.

The 15m, environmentally friendly BMT design features twin inboard diesels, driving twin waterjets, and is designed to reduce fuel consumption and emissions, while achieving 30kts and offering improved operational efficiency. The bridge will embody a fully-integrated C4ISR suite and platform management system, an open architecture and shock-mitigating seating. A total of 18 craft will replace the vessels currently in use with the MDP, and the contract also calls for a comprehensive integrated logistics support package.

The 15m vessels will be valuable in providing the MoD Police Force with an upgrade in capability to persistently patrol in littoral areas for the purpose of force protection of critical national infrastructure, covering high value assets across the United Kingdom and its naval bases [the design] is part of BMT’s extensive range of proven in-service patrol boats for the demanding defence and security sectors in the UK and overseas. This additional order from MST underscores our agility in producing carefully tailored designs that suit each individual operator’s particular requirements,” commented BMT’s Business Sector Lead for Government and Security, Martin Bissuel.

BMT has delivered various large scale police modernisation programmes and complex security programmes, and supports an array of key government departments and a range of police forces. It offers its global customer base excellent seakeeping, speed and reliability characteristics across a range of designs from 9-80m in length, focused on exportability and adaptability.
